Jackson and Connor : 3 Months

Since we don't have a doctor's appointment to update weight and height, I figured it would be a good time to share some observations about the boys....

Jackson is very interested in what is going on. Michael and I are thinking that he is going to be an architect, engineer or interior designer. His eyes dart back and forth looking around to see where everything is positioned. We call him "livewire" since he is not really interested in napping. Almost certain that he thinks that he is missing something as he immediately wakes up. Jackson's eyes are so big and he LOVES to smile and play. He has started cooing and is so happy when he is relaying his thoughts/flirting. There is a lot going on in that head of his and we can't wait to figure it out.

Connor is starting to check things out more and more but is still very consumed with his naps and/or watching TV (he's not very picky as long as there are bright colors). He loves his music and the plush attached to his toys. He started smiling and cooing after Jackson BUT he is definitely making up for it. Most of the smiles are followed by shy little head tilts that could "solve the world's problems," according to his daddy. Connor is very relaxed and calm. We are almost certain that Connor's favorite part of the day is bottle time and or anything that gets him outside. He starts crying when you take the bottle out for a burp and is often upset at the end when there is no more to drink. WE reassure him that burps are not optional and that the bottle is finished.

Sleeping

Most people have heard the Offspring's "Come Out and Play." Connor seems to be asking Jackson that more and more often. In the past couple of weeks, we started noticing Connor's attempt to reposition himself closer to Jackson.

They start off on their sheet savers and Jackson is in his crib wedge and swaddle...

And, the boys end up in all kinds of different positions. Connor has moved from vertical to horizontal and is reaching out, a/k/a baby kicking in the swaddle me, to touch his big brother.  Jackson, of course, is not ready for this at 3 or 4 a.m.  when Connor starts the moving and usually wakes up crying.

Recently, I went in to check on Jackson and his head was dancing (courtesy of Connor). The boys were in a T position (similar to how they were positioned in my belly) and Connor was relentless in his energy and directing his feet at Jackson.  It was one of the funnier things that I have seen with the boys and it didn't surprise me that Jackson was crying (not the best way to be woken up).

We haven't been able to figure out how long that it takes Connor to get into these positions.  Most often for Connor, the preferred position is to be laying right next to Jackson.

What we do know is that he is ALL smiles in the a.m. or when he wakes up from his naps and it is one of the sweetest things about him!

The most common is the V position.

Swinging and Plush are Connor's love language

We were lucky enough to borrow a take-a-long swing (many thanks to Sharon and Megan) so that each boy had the option of swinging at the same time.   Ever since it started to become a "treat" for whomever was able to get into the swing first in the day, we were on the hunt for another one.

As, we have previously posted, Connor has a fascination with his plush. And, this swing did not disappoint him. His new friends are the toucan and frog. They seem to have more of a LOVING relationship than Gus the Octopus but we'll see how long that lasts.

Ah, the swaddle

Connor often times struggles with taking a nap. He's very fidgety and we have been trying to reduce the use of the swaddles to just overnight but on certain days, like this one in particular, the swaddle is necessary. We chatted about how he was being a grumpy pants and he straightened his arms next to his sides as if he was happy to be swaddled.  Cooperation is very much appreciated.

Sleeping in the bumbo

Sometimes when you are an energizer bunny and can't stop moving or relax enough to take a nap, you opt to fall asleep in your Bumbo and look absolutely adorable doing so.

2010 St Patricks Day

Celebrating the boys' first St. Patricks Day required special pajamas and a special photo session.

Jackson was really working it.  Connor  was obviously working the Poker Face.

And, to make it real, we have to include some of the outtakes.

This was just prior to all of those gut busting smiles.

Baseball buddies cheering on their dad

Before we found out that we were having twins, Michael agreed to be the Commissioner of Roland Park Baseball.  We had thoughts on how time consuming it was going to be but no true idea.

In honor of their dad's favorite sport, we picked up some baseball outfits for the boys before the season started so they can play the part of the commissioner's sons around the fields.

And, for days when a sleeper is not needed, we are ready with some actual tees and baseball overalls.

hey Bumbo... Bumbo Italiano (as Daddy likes to sing)

Both Jackson and Connor have started to become more aware of their surroundings. Some of their favorite things are the red paint in the bathroom, ceilings, lamps and what we think is the crown molding in the past couple of weeks.

They are in awe of these things and I thought it was a great time to introduce the Bumbo seat. Jackson spends more time awake than Connor (because he is so nosy) and so he tried it out before heading out for Andrew's suprise party.

This is just perfection in a little  package.

And, he showed off his new skill for the party guests.

Connor gets his time too but has not been feeling well since the 4 shots that he got at his check-up ib Thursday and has spent most of his time cuddling with any willing partner.

Jackson and Connor : 2 Months

Jackson and Connor just went to the doctor  for their 2 month check-up (they are actually 9 weeks and a couple of days). Doctor Sibila said that everything is going well and the boys handled their 4 shots better than expected. I personally think that Daddy had a harder time :)

Jackson - 11 lbs .5 ounces (he is catching up to Connor) and 22 1/2 inches

Connor - 11 lbs 2.5 ounces and 23 1/2 inches

Return to Work

Mommy returned to work yesterday and she was definitely missing the boys. We had a lot of fun on the activity mat and they looked super cute, as always.

She may have been at work but her mind was on the boys ALL.DAY.LONG. I am so grateful that I get the best of both and the boys have Christine, Kim and Gina to love on them on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

And, the boys are sleeping longer and longer at night, which is important since having to work and interact with people and bill your time is tough compared to snuggling with these twinkies.   All of our hard work with the every 3 hour feedings has gotten the boys into a good bit of solid sleep so their parents aren't walking around like zombies.
