Lights in Hampden, Hon

We ventured out for the second night to Hampden.

Yes, the 2nd night because our first attempt the night before was an absolute disaster. There was no parking, almost 7 year olds running away from me as we walked, a SERIOUSLY gushing bloody nose and tears from everyone except for Michael. It was bad, bad and more bad.  When the boys and I had finally gotten to the lights, they complained they were hungry. We had  hoped to get dinner too and we went home with no dinner as well. The boys went to bed late and to say it was a disaster would be putting it mildly.

This time, we ventured out about an hour earlier in hopes of securing parking before the residents got home.  We lucked out and found a spot together and headed over to Golden West for dinner.  The wait the night before was 45 minutes and we got the call that our table was ready on our way home....

On our way to Golden West, the boys spotted the flamingo at Cafe  Hon and asked for a picture.  We had planned to go there if there was a long wait.

Luckily, I had called ahead and they had a table waiting for us when we got there. Already, 100 times better than the night before!! Jackson was very happy with his quesadilla and requested that we come back.  They had good fries, which is probably the reason why!

The boys had requested ice cream the night before and I turned them down because we hadn't eaten dinner. In hind sight, ice cream probably would have helped the situation.  So, since it was a different day and we were in a good mood, we were off to the Charmery.  Jackson picked out ginger ice cream, which totally surprised us and both Michael and were o.k. with not sharing.  Connor picked a chocolate chip ice cream, which was good, but he definitely didn't want to share. The option to get toppings were a very exciting part of the ice cream purchase for them.

After the boys had their ice cream, we were off.  They told their dad that this was just the beginning.

There was a set of steps that the boys had to wait to use, which caused some bad behavior issues, but we were willing to over look because of the disaster the night before was and how little sleep the boys actually got. Once they got their turn, they were mesmerized.

The house that had the train display allowed you to walk up the steps to their porch and there were some great views to be had.

For some reason, the boys were enamored by this inflated Elf on the Shelf and they completely understood how funny the unassembled Snowman For Sale actually was.

The residents of Hampden are very proud Baltimoreans and the crab display and Natty Boh display was perfect. After the Fells Point Olde Thyme Christmas, the boys completely knew Mr. Boh (and pointed him out when we went to Nacho Mamas when they opened in Towson).

And, the hubcap display has been there for years!!!

Clearly, the boys are obsessed with Star Wars and this display did not disappoint.

The boys immediately picked up that this was a Mardi Gras theme due to their love of the movie Princess and the Frog.

There was dinner, ice cream and lights. SUCH a good night and I'm so happy that we tried again.
