Learning about corn at Cromwell Valley Park

We arrived at Cromwell Valley Park and met our guides whoprovided the class with some information about the farm and how it was initially set up and we retreated to a barn to learn about corn.

Inside the barn, the presentation began and each member of the class was given an ear of corn.

The guides provided a lot of information about the uses of corns and gave the class an opportunity to remove the kernels from their ear of corn.

After the kernels were removed, the class was given an opportunity to use the mortar and pestle and make cornmeal.  The guides ended the corn display in the barn by giving the class a taste of cornbread.

Once the class finished up the cornbread, we moved outside to get some extra cornmeal to feed to the farm's animals.
