Fightin Phils v Bees

We arrived at Pleasant Plains for the much anticipated game against the Bees.   Andrew, Beck, Caden and Graham were all on the Bees along with some other friends from Ms. Guth's class.  So, it was definitely a show down.

Connor had been talking about the game for weeks.  He kept on asking and asking when it was supposed to happen even though we are fairly confident he had the entire schedule memorized.   Since Connor sits at a table with Beck and Andrew, it was GAME ON!!! Once we arrived, Connor was on the lookout for all of his friends.

Coach Rob sets the lineup and he gave us a treat today with our Fightin Phils hitting back to back.  This didn't happen all season except for this game.  LOVE that they are chatting together in the dugout.

Coach Phil was so patient with Jackson the entire season.  He provided him with great instruction and encouragement at each at bat.  Jackson was not as enthusiastic about the game as Connor and some of the other kids so he needed all of the kindness that Coach Phil offered.

Despite averaging 2 hits in the last couple of games, Jackson required the T for every at bat.  Apparently, he was unable to keep an eye on the ball knowing that all of his friends were in the field.

As the season progressed, Connor's hitting was getting better and better. In this game, he was able to get 2 hits and only needed the tee one time. He was so proud of himself and so were we.

Some snapshots from our dugout.

Connor returned to the dugout after some intense running.  One of the other coaches commented on how intense that he looked as  he was rounding the bases.  She commended him on his excitement and hustle.

The picture is blurry but Andrew and Connor finally had a chance to see each other up close.  Great game Bees!!!

RFES night at the Yard

We purchased tickets for the RFES night at the Yard after confirming that Claire, Caroline and Sydney would be going.  We were concerned that it was going to be a late night but it is really hard to keep the boys away from events when there are signs in the school and they can read them!!!

In the past, we've taken the Light Rail from Mount Washington before but we were concerned that it would be too late for the boys to ride the train and we didn't want to have to wait too long for the train with what we expected to be a very late night.   So, we parked at Michael's office and walked to the Stadium.

Both boys were in awe of the tall buildings.  They have been downtown before but for some reason, it was particularly amazing this night.  It put a smile on our face to see them realize the height of the buildings.

Immediately upon walking in, Jackson was eager to find his friends. Little did he know that we had a long walk that was going to include some escalators...

Jackson is very fond of Claire.  He told us on the way home that she was tricky because he tried to kiss her several times and that she kept moving out of the way.  There is so much talk in the Kindergarten class of marrying.  Good thing that they really don't understand all that marriage involves yet...

Our view for the night.  Not too bad.

Cheering on the O's.  Apparently, once we made it to the 7th inning stretch, it was decided that we were going to make it to the fireworks.

And, we did. Let's hope that they sleep in tomorrow. Such a fun time with friends. We made it through another game and didn't have to go to the playground.  It seems as if we have some real baseball fans.

Celebrating Adelaide

It was time to celebrate Adelaide's birthday and her parents were kind enough to invite Jackson to the celebration.  Since the celebration was for someone in his class, we let Connor decide if Jackson should attend.

Connor took a good bit of time grappling with the decision and he had me check the guest list and confirmed that Jackson knew enough people.  He rationalized that since Adelaide, Jackson and Connor all go to see the reading specialist to further their reading skills together, it was a yes.

The party was at Stoneleigh Lanes and costumes were suggested.  Scooby was a little short on Connor at Halloween and very cumbersome so we knew that wasn't an option and Nate the Great's trench would have made it difficult to attend so the boys wore Disney inspired shirts.  However, John Henry brought a large bag of costumes and was kind enough to share.

Connor stuck with his shirt but Jackson tried bowling in an Iron Man costume.

The kids sang Happy Birthday to the Birthday girl.

Jackson often gets restless with bowling and he found a partner in crime near the games, Dara.  However, he thought that she was Mila.  I corrected this for him and she continued to be kind to him sharing coins with him from the games and inviting him to her birthday party.  There are a lot of future birthday parties that the boys have been invited too.

Once it was time to leave, I encouraged Jackson to thank Adelaide for having him and suggested he give her a hug.  He may have taken this suggestion too far as he was trying to kiss her.  Good news is that she was smiling.

6 Year Well Visit

We were finally able to schedule the boys' 6 year well visit.  Apparently, it's easier to see the doctors within the Pediatric group when the boys are sick than a well visit. They are getting to be so grown up.

Once they got off the elevator,  they knew exactly where to go and were incredibly cooperative when it was time for their vitals.

Jackson weighed 48 lbs and was 45 3/4 inches tall. He may or may not have been flirting with the assistant.

Next up was Connor.  He weighed 47 lbs and was 44 3/4 inches tall.  Finally, confirmation that he could ride all the fun rides at Walt Disney World when we go in the fall.

The

And, what does one do after a 6 year well visit, they get their workout in at the Y on the Rockwall and have a fiesta when you get home because it is Cinco de Mayo after all.
