Checking out the new Giraffes at the Zoo

After the pancake breakfast, Michael needed to get his car's emissions testing done so Jackson and Connor and I headed to the zoo in hopes to see the new giraffes and lion cubs, which they showed as being on exhibit.

The boys were a little disappointed to not be able to see the zebras and rhinos.  We discussed that the ostriches' feathers probably kept them warm and that is why they were on exhibit.

The cheetah and leopard were pacing.  It must have been lunch time since it is very rare to actually see them moving.

The male warthog was on exhibit.  We've learned that the male is too aggressive to the babies and that the female needs to make sure that they are safe so we will never see the piglets with their dad.

They were running to the giraffe house. Connor in the lead is very rare but he was really excited.

We entered the giraffe house and saw both of the Okapi's.  As we approached the glass, the Okapi would come to the glass as if to say hello and lick the glass.

This giraffe was more visible than the others. At one point, they opened the gate so that the giraffe could get to the eucalyptus leaves.

Peeking out.

The giraffes in the giraffe house are probably the boys' favorite exhibit.  It is so amazing to watch their faces light up as they get a glimpse of a giraffe looking over the wall.

Slightly blurry but we had to keep since it was one of the new giraffes.  We could see this giraffe's head and the butt of the other new giraffe.

After the giraffe house, we said hello to the elephants and walked back over to the lion exhibit.  We were hoping to see the lion cubs but they were not on exhibit.  We did get to see Cuma and Hasaan.

In to the monkey house to check out the monkeys and most importantly the crocodiles.   The boys were able to see the crocodile move off the ground portion of the exhibit and dive into the water.

It was close enough for us to be able to see the entire body.

Posing and requesting pictures to be taken.
