Making Gingerbread Cookies

Mistletoe delivered the A Very Merry George Christmas to accompany the George Christmas preparations book and the boys have been adamant about making gingerbread cookies since George makes them for Santa.

We had never done anything other than Tollhouse chocolate chip cookies and the pre-made cookies that just need to be heated.   This year at school, there has been more of a focus on crafts and not baking.  However, I recall the boys bringing home cut out cookies from last year gave us hope that we could use a cookie cutter so we decided to give it a chance.

Ready to go...

Jackson moves REALLY fast with most things and this was no exception.  Since he was my baking partner and I was taking pictures, no photographic proof of his hard work. He floured and rolled the dough like a champ.  He is pressing out the gingerbread boy.

Connor and Michael were baking pals.  They worked together on adding flour to the dough.

They rolled the dough together.

He used his muscles to make sure that he got every last bit of the design.

And after pressing the gingerbread girl, they moved her to the cookie sheet together.

We checked out some images on the computer and worked our magic with decorating.  The boys gave me some instruction on what they wanted and they added the M&Ms.

Our gingerbread family.
