Howard County Farm Fair

Since we had been to numerous Farm Fairs and not yet to Howard County's, we decided it was a must do.

The weather cooperated with plenty of sun and we arrived in enough time to catch the end of the horse jumping.  Both boys were mesmerized by the entire experience.  It was definitely something that we are happy to have gotten there earlier enough to enjoy it. The horse that won gave us an extra show when they raised the bar one more than the horse actually needed to win!!

Connor spotted the maps and was very excited to lead us on our journey to the animals and other exhibits.

The animal pens were so big and there was so much room to walk around.  It was the largest display area of any farm fair that we had been too. The sheared sheep are always a crowd favorite.  There was a lot of shearing and touch up work before the animals were being shown.  Both boys watched intently as some of the animals were getting ready for showing.

The cows and pigs were so beautiful and big.

Jackson couldn't contain himself at times when watching the animals in their pen and moving around.  Since it was the first official day of the fair, the boys were treated to a lot of owners bringing their animals in and they were trying to help all of the farmers.

We moved to the children's stalls and there were chicks out to pet and a bunch of piglets.  Connor was especially struck with the piglets and baby calf and spent a considerable amount of time watching them as they learned to walk to their mama.

This face says it all.  He was grinning from ear to ear during the entire time that we were walking through the stalls and was hard to catch up with (at times) but his aim was to just see as many animals as he could and some of the same ones that he was particularly fond of numerous times.  He was also very interested in the farmers in training displaying their animals.  There were tears when we had to pull him away to see something else.

After lunch, we moved on to the Midway.  The boys were able to ride rides that we didn't realize that they were ready for but apparently they are tall enough.  We sat there watching and wondering when they got old enough to ride the Gravitron.
