2015 Cherry Blossoms

We had driven to the Metro,  took the Metro to the wrong Waterfront, took a taxi to the right Waterfront in Georgetown and were told that we had about a 10 minute walk to get closer to the cherry blossoms.

We finally arrived after an hour. Yes, an hour.  Connor was exhausted and crying and hungry. We had asked the boys prior to starting our walk if they were hungry and both boys said no. We coaxed them along with our last remaining snacks, rides on our shoulders, carrying and finished all of our water on the hour long hike in the sun.

But, we finally made it and the Cherry Blossoms did not disappoint.

The boys took refuge by the water for the cool breeze.

We had some amazing views of the Washington Monument as we walked around the Tidal Basin.

As we wandered further around the Basin and caught up with the Jefferson Memorial and the beautiful pink tulip magnolias.

It was at this point, that the boys had reached their breaking point, especially Connor.  He was so tired and hungry and wanted mozzarella sticks and there were no easy solutions in rush hour traffic.  There were a lot of tears and he was almost inconsolable. We eventually found food but it was definitely not as easy of a task.  We were definitely exhausted and despite the mishaps, we all said that at the end of the day, we had a good time.  But, we will not be returning to DC without a lot more food and better research on how to get in and out of the major area with a lot less walking.
