Riding the Metro and other lessons learned when traveling in D.C.

We debated back and forth about whether or not to drive in and after a considerable amount of research, we opted to take the metro in to the Waterfront station.

Jackson was incredibly excited and was running in to the station to help with the ticket purchase.

After the tickets were purchased and the route maps were in hand, the boys headed through the turnstiles for their first Metro trip.

Up the steps and waiting on the train...

The boys loved the ride and the sights and the ability of the train to go underground. We let them watch the route map and count the number of stops.

We exited the train on the search for the Sightseeing Cruise. Unfortunately, the website gave us wrong directions.  Their directions were to get to the boats' offices.  We were 28 streets away without any real options.  Apparently, Georgetown didn't really want the Metro...  The Waterfront stop was beautiful but there wasn't a lot of people on the street and we couldn't find a cab and we were concerned that the cab wouldn't take the boys without a car seat.  We asked about a bus and nobody really knew.... It was an incredibly frustrating and we quickly learned that Jackson and Michael are better crisis partners.  Connor and I were ready to board the Metro and get to the Cherry Blossoms.

In the end, a nice lady helped us hail a taxi who took us through basically gridlock over to the boat on the Georgetown Waterfront.  After the end of an incredibly long day, we were happy to board the Metro one last time for our ride back to Greenbelt.  We will definitely be doing a better job researching before we enter DC again as having our vehicle would have prevented the mega melt downs and tears from not just Connor...
