Decorating the tree or shattering ornaments

After looking at our calendar and realizing how busy we were going to be, it was decided that tonight was the night to tackle the tree decoration.  Michael actually picked the day and since it was his birthday, I decided not to rock the boat despite the delay in getting the process started even knowing that we had Hershey Park the next day.

The boys were very excited about the idea of this and wanted to be "big helpers."  They love to help with unloading groceries and other items and this was hopefully going to be an extension of that.  Our hope was that there would be minimal damage.

In the end, several ornaments broke BUT they were old and I was looking to pare down the number of balls that we have and it is a tree for toddlers. Gone are the days of our beautiful tree without cows and horses and pigs and we wouldn't have it any other way. It is a different type of beautiful and the definition of beauty that our two boys have is all right with us.

Jackson helping place the ball.  It was supposed to be team work but he was trying to be a big helper.

Connor pointing out the perfect spot.

Both of the boys were running around with such excitement that actually getting pictures was hard and obviously holding a camera to take the pictures doesn't really assist in damage control. Jackson was actually running around in a diaper and his pajama top. He was so excited that we couldn't even convince him to calm down enough to put his pants on.

You can actually see him showing some leg if you look close.

At the end, Connor reminded us that we needed a Star for the top of the tree but told us that it was beautiful and "squealed," yes squealed with delight that it was going to be a Merry Christmas. Yes, Connor, we hope this season will be merry and bright.
